Danial Williams has proven his credibility in multiple martial arts disciplines with ONE Championship. ‘Mini T’ has competed against some of the top fighters in his weight class no matter the ruleset, earning himself a reputation as an all-action competitor.
In 2022, the Aussie-Thai striker focused his attention on competing in MMA and emerged as a ranked contender in the strawweight division. While his year may have ended with a loss, he was able to pull off three consecutive wins to put him as the no.5-ranked fighter in the division going into 2023.
As a new year approaches, Danial Williams has his eyes set on earning world championship fights in all the martial arts disciplines he competes under. In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘Mini T’ said:
“I definitely want the [ONE Strawweight] Muay Thai [World Title] belt. I feel that’s mine for the taking this year. In a perfect world, it would be a Muay Thai World Title fight, then a champion-versus-champion fight with kickboxing, and then the Miado rematch. That would be the ultimate 2023.”

Williams has previously discussed the prospect of facing Joseph ‘The Hurricane’ Lasiri, the current strawweight Muay Thai world champion. He told ONE back in May:
“I feel I should be his next match. I’ve always accepted a challenge – I fought Rodtang [Jitmuangnon] on really short notice. I know Joseph will want to defend his title, and that’s what I’m mentally chasing right now.”
“I really like his style”: Joseph Lasiri responds to Danial Williams’ callout
On November 18, the strawweight Muay Thai world champion Joseph Lasiri faced the flyweight Muay Thai king Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a champion-versus-champion matchup.
Ahead of his huge fight at ONE on Prime Video 5, Lasiri took some time away from his preparation to respond to Danial Williams' callout. Even though he was focused on his match, Joseph Lasiri still had one eye on his own division.
In an interview with ONE Championship, Lasiri mentioned the Aussie-Thai striker Danial Williams and said:
“Danial Williams called me out. I really like his style. I really like Danial Williams as a fighter, and I will be glad to share the ring with him. And he lost now in an MMA fight. But when he goes inside the arena, he always gives the show to the people, and they appreciate that kind of fighter who goes to the arena and does the job.”
Even though he couldn’t become a double champion against Rodtang, Lasiri still had an incredible year where he was crowned a world champion.
While Danial ‘Mini T’ Williams has predominantly competed in MMA since joining ONE Championship, he also has an extensive Muay Thai and kickboxing record. He has even competed against Lasiri’s last opponent Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a fight named the ONE Super Series fight of the year in 2021.
Williams may have lost the match, but he has come a long way from his amateur Muay Thai debut in 2014, and at 29 years old, he is in his prime and in the hunt for some gold to wear around his waist.
