Danial Williams has revealed the three ONE Championship fighters who impressed him in 2022.
When he’s not fighting, Williams enjoys watching the events of the Asia-based combat sports promotion. The 29-year-old Australian recently did an interview with ONE to recap 2022. He had this to say when asked about fighters who impressed him the most:
“The big Russian man [Anatoly Malykhin], he’s always exciting in what he’s done. But also, Christian Lee. I think it’s pretty crazy what he’s done to step up in weight, and the [opponent] didn’t even make weight. They had that barnburner of a fight. He’s so young, and I’m like this guy is pretty skilled to step up in weight. Other than that, Jarred Brooks, I gotta give it to him, plain and sweet this year.”
‘Mini T’ is clearly an educated ONE Championship fan, considering all three of his picks deserve recognition. Anatoly Malykhin made a statement in 2022 by securing the ONE interim heavyweight world title and the undisputed light heavyweight strap.

Meanwhile, Christian Lee regained his ONE lightweight world title against Ok Rae Yoon before becoming a two-division world champion by defeating former welterweight king Kiamrian Abbasov. Finally, Jarred Brooks fought three times in the calendar year. He took out two top strawweight contenders before dethroning long-reigning strawweight champ Joshua Pacio.
Danial Williams wants to fight Joshua Pacio and Jarred Brooks
Danial Williams is looking to fight the best ONE Championship strawweights in 2023. Williams is currently ranked fifth in the strawweight division and wants to challenge those ahead of him. During an interview with ONE, ‘Mini T’ had this to say about potentially fighting former titleholder Joshua Pacio and reigning world champion Jarred Brooks:
“I would love to fight those boys [Pacio and Brooks] too in the future, man. They’re in the pinnacle, right? They’re good everywhere, striking and dominant on the ground. It just made it really exciting to see holes in both of their games. It keeps me motivated, seeing them fight and know it’s there for the taking.”
Danial Williams made his ONE debut in April 2021. ‘Mini T’ took on Rodtang in a thrilling Muay Thai fight that he lost by unanimous decision. The Australian returned to MMA with three consecutive wins, all in 2022. He fought for a fourth time in the calendar year, losing to Jeremy Miado in the third round. The 29-year-old looks to fight for ONE gold in 2023, be it in Muay Thai, MMA, or even kickboxing.
