Muay Thai standout Danial Williams recently revealed that he had to endure racist comments from other children while growing up in Australia.

As a former WMC Muay Thai world champion, it’s safe to say that Danial Williams has found a fair amount of success in the Art of Eight Limbs. He is also the No.5-ranked strawweight (MMA) under the ONE Championship banner. However, ‘Mini T’ didn’t always want to be a fighter. As a child growing up in Australia, Williams aspired to be an Aussie Rules footballer like many of his friends.

In an interview with ONE Championship, the Thai-born Australian fighter shared details about his childhood, including the racism he faced on a regular basis:

“As a kid, I was feeling different as well because I wanted to be this white Australian footy player. That’s all my mates were, kind of thing. I guess I’m the different kid at school. There weren’t too many mixed-race people. And I hated the comments on the footy field, even though it wasn’t crazy. But it was just like the racist comments here and there.”

Danial Williams endured treatment that no individual should, especially a child. Fortunately for fight fans, ‘Mini T’ found his calling inside the ring and has established himself as one of the world's most exciting Muay Thai strikers.

Danial Williams is looking forward to Superlek vs. Rodtang at ONE Fight Night 8

Danial Williams will make his return to the circle on March 24 for a Muay Thai showdown with Rui Botelho at ONE Fight Night 8 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. When he’s not busy inside the cage, ‘Mini T’ will likely have his eyes on another highly anticipated matchup scheduled to go down later that same evening.

ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 will put his world title on the line against ‘The Iron Man’ Rodtang Jitmuangnon. Sharing his excitement for the long-awaited superfight, Williams said:

"Originally, when I heard Superlek coming into ONE Championship, I was like, ‘Whoa, man, that guy is awesome.’ And then seeing him fighting you know, with his kicks, but I just still think Rodtang is a bit smarter. I think he's very aware of his style and yeah, I still think Rodtang will get the edge over Superlek. But that'll be a wicked fight. And if anyone's going to do good against Rodtang, it's going to be Superlek.”
