Danial Williams says Rodtang-Takeru showdown should be a trilogy under three different rulesets: “That’s even better”

Danial Williams hopes we get a trilogy of fights featuring Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Takeru Segawa.

For years, fight fans have been dreaming about a showdown between 'The Iron Man' and Japan's biggest kickboxing star. Though no official announcements have been made, all signs point to that dream match becoming a reality in 2025 — but just one fight isn't enough for Williams.

Speaking with Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, 'Mini T' suggested that Rodtang vs. Takeru be a trilogy of fights with each encounter encompassing a different combat sports rule set under the ONE banner — Muay Thai, kickboxing, and then mixed martial arts.

"Yeah, yeah. That’s even better," Williams said of the suggested trilogy. "I’d love to see [MMA] as the third after they both have their fights in their respected sports."

Both Rodtang and Takeru are coming off big wins in their respective sports, the first coming from 'The Natural Born Crusher' who scored an epic come-from-behind KO against Thant Zin at ONE Friday Fights 81 in September.

Two months later, Rodtang landed a dominant unanimous decision victory over Jacob Smith at ONE 169 in Bangkok.

Danial Williams thinks Rodtang vs. Takeru is 'going to be insane'

As two of the most exciting strikers in all of combat sports, it should come as no surprise that fight fans have been chomping at the bit to see the two warriors go toe-to-toe on martial arts' biggest global stage.

Offering his take on why everyone is so hyped for a scrap between Rodtanga and Takeru, Williams added:

"Styles make fights. These two — almost exactly the same. Similar name, similar style, similar level of expertise. They both can also take a hit, they've got a granite chin. I just think it's going to be insane."
