As he looks ahead to the year in front of him, Danial Williams is taking a mature approach to his career.
After times in the past where he would go into training camps and bouts with various injuries, Williams now has the patience and mindset to step away from the circle and let himself heal.
After competing in October at ONE on Prime Video 3, ‘Mini T’ revealed that he had been offered a Muay Thai contest for February.
Unfortunately, he had to turn this fight down due to a foot fracture that he suffered last time out against Jeremy Miado.

Being the first time he has turned down a fight, it wasn’t easy for Danial Williams to say no but he has allowed himself more time to get back to full fitness.
In an interview with ONE Championship, he explained his decision in further detail:
“I’m sick of doing these camps like half-assed with different injuries. I just want to be ready and add to my confidence. I had to say no. They said what about March? Should be good by then. I said we’ll see how that goes.”
He added:
“I’m getting ready, getting up early and doing the strength stuff. Just getting that strength back because I had a full November. That deload period after a busy year.
"I’m getting the body right and getting the strength back slowly so when I get back to camp I’ll be prepared. Rather than coming in with no preparation and trying to do that crazy training again and just getting injured. It’s all a learning curve.”
Danial Williams continues to push forward despite Jeremy Miado defeat
In 2022, Danial Williams adjusted his focus and whilst he may have ended the year on a loss, he got to where he wanted to be.
Throughout the last 12 months of his career, ‘Mini T’ solely competed in MMA as he looked to rise through the strawweight division rankings.
Going 3-1 through the course of the year, Williams ended 2022 in the division's top 5 rankings. Although his year may have ended with a loss, he was able to prove himself as one of the fighters close to securing a world title opportunity.
Whilst he will now be looking to rebound from his loss to Jeremy Miado at ONE on Prime Video 3, the crucial part for Danial Williams is that he is now in and around the other top contenders regardless of how 2022 ended.
In an interview with ONE Championship, ‘Mini T’ spoke about working his way to the top of the division to earn himself a world title shot:
“That would be a perfect scenario, but another thing is getting the fights to set that up, to stay in the top five, and compete against the best martial artists in the world. Win, lose, or draw, even the last fight, make it the best thing to ever happen to you. It’s only upwards, never think you’re going down from here. Just continued growth.”
While he has had a good year competing in MMA, Danial Williams still has one eye on returning to his striking background to once again compete in Muay Thai or kickboxing under the ONE Championship banner.
