Derrick Lewis and Daniel Cormier are butting heads once again. 'The Black Beast' recently spoke ill of 'DC', prompting the former UFC double champion to offer his thoughts on the matter. Lewis insulted Cormier, describing him as a "piece of sh*t," apparently for disrespecting the Popeyes Chicken franchise.
This was enough for Lewis to want to fight Cormier in a rematch. As is often the case with Lewis, it is difficult to determine how serious he was being, but this didn't stop Cormier from entertaining the bizarre feud. Cormier addressed Lewis' remarks at a Q&A filmed before the UFC Edmonton ceremonial weigh-ins:
"I don't know what happened. I really don't know what happened, I don't know why Derrick's mad at me. It seemed like he was joking, he was smiling a little bit. So, I'll be interested to see what's really happening when I run into him. I think he's going to be here in a few minutes, so him and I will talk in the back."

When a media member told 'DC' that Lewis claimed Cormier knew the reason for his ill feelings, the Hall of Famer was still unsure why his former foe was upset with him.
"I literally have no idea, but who does? This is the same guy that takes his underwear off in the middle of the octagon."

It is unlikely to be a serious feud, as the most upset Lewis has ever been with Cormier was when the latter suggested that he retire due to the rough patch he has been on. 'The Black Beast' was initially scheduled to fight on UFC Edmonton, facing undefeated Brazilian Jhonata Diaz.
Unfortunately, medical issues forced him to withdraw from the bout.
Derrick Lewis and Daniel Cormier previously fought at UFC 230
Six years ago, Derrick Lewis compiled a three-fight win streak to earn a crack at then-champion Daniel Cormier's UFC heavyweight title. The fight, however, was hardly competitive, as Cormier used his Olympic-level wrestling to quickly ground Lewis, controlling and outgrappling him with relative ease.
Check out Daniel Cormier submitting Derrick Lewis:
In round two, he secured a rear-naked choke to submit Lewis, successfully defending the heavyweight title. It remains the only time both men have shared the cage, and a rematch is unlikely, given that Cormier retired four years ago and has shown zero interest in returning.
