Daniel Cormier recently opened up about a conversation with his old rival Jon Jones last year. In a recently released video, the two can be seen exchanging friendly words prior to UFC 285.
Fans may find it pleasantly surprising to witness two fighters who were formerly involved in one of the sport's most intense rivalries exchanging encouraging words rather than posing threats to each other.
According to a recently released video on X, UFC commentator Jon Anik and Cormier called Jones in March 2023. Jones interrupted to ask how Cormier's health was before 'DC' could finish his question. Following their phone call, Cormier made a gesture towards Jones.

However, in a recent video that he posted to his YouTube channel, Cormier clarified that the gesture wasn't intended to be disrespectful towards Jones. He gave an explanation for flipping off the camera right away following his conversation with Jones, saying:
''He [Jones] said ‘Hi, can I speak to Daniel?’, which was very odd. Jon and I aren’t great friends, and probably never will be great friends, and that’s ok. He and I don’t need to feel like there’s an obligation for us to have a great relationship…guys, I wasn’t flipping off Jones! Everybody made a joke in the room afterward, so I flipped the bird. It was clever because it makes it look a certain way.”

While their most recent exchange might not completely put an end to the gossip, it can put an end to certain rumors surrounding their relationship.
Daniel Cormier reacts to Jon Jones' conversation with a fan
Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones' historic rivalry in mixed martial arts will forever bind them. Unlike other fighters, these two famous champions don't seem to have forgotten their past grudges when they stepped away from the sport. Recently, 'DC' shared his thoughts on a DM that 'Bones' had with a fan, calling the reigning UFC heavyweight champion insecure.
In a video posted on his own YouTube channel, Cormier stated that Jones was getting $15 million to fight Stipe Miocic, saying:
''Of course he's [Jones] going to fight him [Miocic] if he's making $15 million. A lot of times fans will just say rude s**t that they think will hurt you and it doesn't make sense, but that fan was not as off as some might think because when you say all that money and you're still as insecure as you are - coward, no, but he's still insecure.''
