Daniel Cormier and Jake Paul famously had a run-in at UFC 261 in which the UFC Hall of Famer confronted the YouTube star for comments that he made on social media. Cormier recently gave some insight into how things currently stand between him and Paul.

Speaking on his podcast, 3 Rounds with Daniel Cormier, the former double champ stated:

"A couple weeks ago, Jake Paul and I were messaging each other about an appearance on my show DC & RC and we were going back and forth talking, and just kind of talking about his future. Honestly, you know Jake and I have had some run-ins, but when I started talking to him and I'm messaging him, he's a kid that's very respectful, and we had respectful conversations."

Cormier continued:

"We really did. We didn't argue. We didn't fight. He was a kid that - he has an idea what he wants to do. Now, these kids today are different, right?... He's very boisterous, he's very verbal, he speaks big, but is respectful."

Cormier and Paul appear to have worked past their differences. The latter is reportedly set to make his mixed martial arts debut in 2023.

Daniel Cormier discusses Jake Paul signing with PFL

Jake Paul and PFL announced that they have teamed up, with the former YouTube star set to make his mixed martial arts debut sometime this year. Former double champ Daniel Cormier shared his thoughts on the news.

Speaking on his podcast, 3 Rounds with Daniel Cormier, the UFC Hall of Famer stated:

"Will Jake Paul actually fight in the PFL? A lot of boxers say they're going to fight, but they never actually do... Jake Paul was a high school wrestler, so was his brother Logan. They weren't bad. Although it seems as though Jake Paul does a lot of things to drum up interest, I believe this one he'll actually fight."

While Paul has been accused of avoiding actual boxers and rigging fights, it will be interesting to see how his mixed martial arts career turns out. He has already taken to Twitter to call out Nate Diaz, who is currently a mixed martial arts free agent. Diaz has opened as a huge betting favorite in a potential bout.
