Since arriving in ONE Championship, Danielle Kelly had her sights on accomplishing one goal and one goal only.
Though she is happy to keep evolving as a competitor and testing herself against different styles and opponents, the 27-year-old has always had championship gold on her mind.
With the promotion crowning the likes of Kade Ruotolo and Mikey Musumeci as submission grappling world champions, Kelly looked to join their ranks.
Not only would this accomplishment prove that she deserves to be recognized as an elite Jiu-Jitsu competitor, but it would also be a huge honor for her to become the first-ever female submission grappling world champion in the promotion’s history.

At ONE Fight Night 14, the Silver Fox BJJ student did just that, getting her hand raised against Jessa Khan once the match-up passed the time limit.
Accomplishing her goal of becoming a world champion that night at the Singapore Indoor Stadium will go down as one of the best moments in the American’s career.
In an appearance on the Chewjitsu Podcast, Danielle Kelly reflected on her preparations for that contest and how everything went according to plan, despite the extra pressure and stakes that were on top of this contest.
Specifically, she referenced the people around her who helped her to perform to the best of her ability on fight night, crediting them with helping her to reach the pinnacle in ONE Championship:
“I feel like just being around the right people I felt like that was huge, that was a huge key to this camp and in general. So, I can't wait for more matches to kind of just to see where I'm at and how I improve.”
