Emma D’Arcy may be one of the most compelling actors right now, but grappling star Danielle Kelly isn’t much of a fan of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s portrayer in the hit HBO show House of the Dragon.

Kelly, who enjoys television as much as the next person, said D’arcy has a bland personality in the show and that it’s usually Matt Smith, who plays Rhaenyra’s uncle Daemon Targaryen, who carries the whole show.

The atomweight submission grappling star, however, gave props to Rhaenyra’s previous actor Milly Alcock. D’Arcy took on the role of Rhaenyra in episode 6 following a 10-year time jump.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Danielle Kelly said:

“Well, I think the character, the actress that was the younger [version], I like her better than the recent one. This one sucks. She's boring. She has no personality. And Daemon [Matt Smith] is just carrying the whole show. And everyone else is just talking, like there's no action, unlike in ‘Game of Thrones’.”

House of the Dragon is the first prequel series for the massively popular Game of Thrones that is broadcast across HBO’s platforms. The show’s timeline is based on George RR Martin’s “Fire and Blood” book and covers parts of the fourth volume and much of the fifth volume.

The series shows the Targaryen dynasty at the climax of its power in Westeros. House of the Dragon is set more than a century before the timeline of Game of Thrones and the birth of the last known Targaryen queen and female dragon rider Daenerys.

Danielle Kelly preparing for her return to the Circle

Though she has a lot of television to peruse, Danielle Kelly is still a martial artist and she revealed that a return to the Circle is imminent. Kelly revealed in an interview with The Schmo that she’s constantly in the gym getting ready for her next match in ONE Championship.

Though there’s no announced opponent yet, Kelly feels that she could be fighting in either November or December. She told ONE Championship:

“Hoping [for] November or December. I’m just staying ready. Hopefully, I have the Angela match, or whoever they give me.”
