Danielle Kelly prepared for back takes vs. Jessa Khan: “I was 100 percent confident she couldn’t submit me”

Danielle Kelly was prepared to handle anything that Jessa Khan threw at her during their entertaining submission showdown inside Singapore Indoor Stadium last month.

ONE Fight Night 14 saw a rematch two years in the making as Jessa Khan, who previously bested Kelly under the WNO banner in 2021, made her ONE Championship debut with the opportunity to go two-up on Kelly and earn herself 26 pounds of gold.

But this time, Danielle Kelly was more than prepared for Khan’s attacks. In the end, it was she who would leave ‘The Lion City’ with her hand raised and a ONE world title draped over her shoulder.

Appearing on the Chewjitsu Podcast, Kelly shared details regarding her preparation for Jessa Khan, revealing that she often spent her training camps in precarious positions.

She said:

“Once we were like almost towards the cage I was going to get more comfortable because I trained for bad scenarios during this camp.

“I have people always taking my back during training, it was a miserable time but like when I went against her like I was comfortable. I knew I was going to get out of it. She went against me the first time I was 100 percent confident she couldn't submit me.”
