In less than a year, Danielle Kelly has become one of the most recognizable names in submission grappling. Much of that is thanks to the platform ONE Championship has given to some of the best grapplers in the world today, but with fame comes competition.
In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Kelly sees the positive side of becoming a recognizable name in the world of combat sports but is well aware that the recognition also comes with a big target on her back:
“I look at it as a huge positive thing, for sure. But it’s also, I wouldn’t say weight on my shoulders, that’s not the right word. I know that there’s a lot of eyes on me, which is a good thing but also, competitive-wise, it’s work. I need to be on my feet and be ready for anything that comes my way in the 115-pound division.”
Danielle Kelly will return to the circle on February 24, competing against MMA fighter Ayaka ‘Zombie’ Miura. The Japanese standout has amassed an impressive record of 11-4 in her mixed martial arts career. Next, she will try her hand at grappling against one of the absolute best in the world.

Danielle Kelly was impressed with Stamp Fairtex vs. ‘Supergirl’ at ONE Fight Night 6
At ONE Fight Night 6 fan-favorite Stamp Fairtex stepped into the circle once again for an impromptu kickboxing showdown with Muay Thai specialist Anna ‘Supergirl’ Jaroonsak. The bout, though not originally scheduled for the card, delivered fireworks for three full rounds. In the end, Stamp Fairtex scored her second straight victory in a closely contested split decision.
Danielle Kelly revealed that she watched the fight and was very impressed with the performance of both women:
“I thought it was pretty exciting, but also, I know Stamp was taking a lot of shots for sure. Some people thought it could have gone either way, some people thought Stamp lost that fight.”
Kelly continued, saying:
“But yeah, the girls really put on a good show. A lot of people are arguing that Stamp lost. I’m no judge, I’m not an expert, I’m just saying how everyone else is like confused. But they really put on a really hard-fought match.”
