Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Danielle Kelly has a variety of techniques at her disposal but considers rear-naked chokes to be her favorite.
The grappling ace shared this during a pre-event interview for ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video, where she was among the featured fighters against Japanese judoka Ayaka “Zombie” Miura.
Danielle Kelly will be bringing her full arsenal to the February 24 event in Bangkok and employing them as she sees fit, including her favorite submission technique:
“I think rear-naked chokes are still my favorite. You know, Roger Gracie, that's one of his favorites, so I think it's much better than an armlock or a leglock. But leglocks are also good,” said Kelly while also making a reference to Brazilian legend Gracie."

“I felt really comfortable” - Danielle Kelly feels she’s getting better at promoting her fights
Part of ONE Championship for a year now, submission grappling ace Danielle Kelly said her journey in the promotion has been a learning experience. Among the things she has had to adapt to is promoting her fights, which she admits she struggled with at the start but is now more accustomed to doing.
Speaking to ONE Championship, she said:
“I think this time around, I'm used to the interviews, I was used to seeing everyone again. Everyone I met before, I saw again. I felt really comfortable.”
Kelly has two fights under her belt, with one ending in a draw and the other a victory by submission. Both fights earned her a $50,000 performance bonus.
She makes her third outing on February 24 at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video in Bangkok, taking on Japanese judoka Ayaka 'Zombie' Miura. The fight is part of a stacked card headlined by the all-Brazilian rematch between John Lineker and Fabricio Andrade for the vacant ONE bantamweight world title.
Danielle Kelly is excited for her upcoming showdown with Miura as they get to showcase the sport of submission grappling and further its growth.
