Talented American grappler Danielle Kelly will be slightly undersized in her submission showdown against Judoka 'Zombie' Ayaka Miura. However, that disadvantage is of no concern to her.
Previously, Kelly has typically competed in the 115-pound atomweight division, while Japan's Miura is a former challenger for the women's strawweight world title. The American athlete is aware of the size disadvantage she may have coming into this bout, but it doesn't bother her. She believes her technique will capture the victory.
In an interview with SCMP MMA, Danielle Kelly explained:
"I think my technique is good enough and it doesn't matter. I also train with a lot of other MMA girls, kind of like heavier than her or around her weight. I think they're more technical. So I'm pretty confident in this match going on. I just want it to be an exciting match. That's all I really care for, and getting the finish."

Danielle Kelly on judo vs. jiu-jitsu
Danielle Kelly is an expert in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, while her upcoming opponent is a dangerous Japanese judo player. But 65% of Ayaka Miura's career wins were earned by way of submission stoppages.
Discussing how her jiu-jitsu knowledge will compare to Miura's skills, Kelly said in the same interview:
"From standing, judo has a lot of advantages because mostly jiu-jitsu people, I mean, very rarely do you have a wrestler who is good at jiu-jitsu but like a top jiu-jitsu person. They don't really practice stand-up a lot."
She added:
"Yeah, she has good judo chops. My opponent, she's obviously really good. She's a pretty experienced judo person. Her last three or four submissions were pretty [much] like the same thing. I think it would be an exciting match."
