Brazilian jiu-jitsu wizard Danielle Kelly says she sees a future in both Muay Thai and submission grappling as a professional prizefighter.
Kelly is gearing up for her next submission grappling match against former ONE strawweight world title contender Ayaka Miura at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video. Although she’s been taking the jiu-jitsu world in waves, Kelly is hoping to extend her talents to Muay Thai as well.
At the pre-event interviews at ONE Fight Night 7, the Philadelphia native said:
“I actually enjoy Muay Thai. I've been training in Muay Thai for four years, even before then when I wasn't a pro, but I never really got into a fight or anything. I kind of just stuck with jiu-jitsu, but it's pretty fun. But jiu-jitsu is kind of starting to be on the map. And athletes can actually make a living off of it. So I've been working on my jiu-jitsu more and hopefully get a title match.”

Danielle Kelly is currently coming off a spectacular submission finish against sambo black belt Mariia Molchanova at ONE on Prime Video 4. As a result, she now holds a promotional record of one win and one draw before her next bout this month. With that said, the American star feels like she’s got this next one in the bag.
Ayaka Miura, on the other hand, is a third-degree judo black belt with many tricks up her sleeves. Despite winning all four of her MMA matches at ONE Championship by way of arm locks, there’s more to Miura than meets the eye. Working with the best team behind her, the Japanese warrior will definitely give Kelly a run for her money.
Expect Danielle Kelly and Ayaka Miura to bring their A-game inside the ring next Friday. Fans will be on the edge of their seats with this one as two of the world's best grapplers battle it out.
North American audiences can watch ONE Fight Night 7 live and for free with an Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Danielle Kelly getting the rounds in to strengthen her conditioning skills
Danielle Kelly looked fatigued in one of her recent training videos on Instagram. The Philadelphia native was seen putting in the rounds until the point of exhaustion, but looked pleased with her progress.
She shared her post with the caption:
“'How’s training going' face 🙃🙃🙃”
Kelly's grappling partner answered in response:
“That handshake was a reminder we’re still alive 😅😅😅❤️”
When Kelly prepared for her last bout, she constantly drilled her submission techniques until it became second nature to her. In preparation for Miura, she’s doing the exact same thing and more.
Fans appear stoked to see her in action again to see her put a new set of skills to work.
