Submission grappling star Danielle Kelly was impressed by one late notice addition to the ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video card.

After Anissa Meksen was unable to compete at ONE’s first event of the year, Stamp Fairtex was given a new last-minute opponent, allowing her to stay on the card and subsequently put on a show for her home fans in Bangkok, Thailand.

Stamp faced Anna ‘Supergirl’ Jaroonsak in one of the most entertaining fights of the entire night. Stamp ultimately got her hand raised in an incredibly close split decision, which fans are still debating.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Danielle Kelly spoke about the fight and gave her take on the debate that has followed it:

“I thought it was pretty exciting, but also, I know Stamp was taking a lot of shots for sure. Some people thought it could have gone either way, some people thought Stamp lost that fight.”

She added:

“But yeah, the girls really put on a good show. A lot of people are arguing that Stamp lost. I’m no judge, I’m not an expert, I’m just saying how everyone else is like confused. But they really put on a really hard-fought match.”

Danielle Kelly hopes Gantumur Bayanduuren learned his lesson against Mikey Musumeci

Another big talking point from ONE Fight Night 6 was more in Danielle Kelly’s wheelhouse. At ONE’s first event of the year, Mikey Musumeci defended his ONE flyweight submission grappling world championship against Gantumur Bayanduuren.

Earning a unanimous decision victory, Musumeci dominated his opponent and threatened the challenger’s legs for the majority of the contest.

To the surprise of everyone watching on, the Mongolian fighter refused to tap to the submission holds and it was clear early on that he had suffered extensive damage to his leg. In an act of stubbornness or toughness, he continued through the contest until its duration ended.

In the same interview, Danielle Kelly spoke about the dangers of not tapping and how hopefully, at the very least, a lesson was learned this past January:

"He [Bayanduuren] learned his lesson, hopefully. He’s in the hospital right now, his leg is all braced up. He can’t train or do anything for 12 months. If I was Mikey, I will attack everything, I’ll attack your other leg. That’s just the competitive mindset. But obviously, you feel bad afterward like ‘Dude, you should have just tapped. You’re not gonna be able to walk.’"
