Submission grappling star Danielle Kelly has not been afraid to call her shots since joining ONE Championship. At ONE on Prime Video 4, Kelly picked up her first submission win inside the circle.
After her debut ended in a draw, Kelly came into her contest with Mariia Molchanova hunting for the tap. The rising star made good on her promise, submitting the Russian sambo expert in just over two minutes after taking her opponent's back.
Following her big win, Kelly has once again named a potential opponent that has come up in interviews before.
Speaking to SCMP MMA, Kelly alluded to a potential match-up with the ONE atomweight champion at some point down the line:

“I did kinda call out Angela Lee. She said she would submit me, so I would love to come back for a warm up match before a world title. There are a few girls who are signed to ONE that are actually good at jiu-jitsu. I would love to compete against them.”

This isn’t the first time that Danielle Kelly has spoken about potentially facing Angela Lee. The two have traded words back and forth in the past.
With Kelly’s rising stock inside the circle, a grappling match-up with one of the promotion’s biggest stars would be a huge event for all parties involved.
“I want to make the move to MMA” - Danielle Kelly bares plan to transition to MMA by next year
Submission grappling star Danielle Kelly has long hinted at a transition to MMA.
By signing with ONE Championship, where she has already started to become a big name, Kelly could feasibly compete in grappling and MMA at the same time.
With the platform that submission grappling has been given in 2022 by ONE Championship, Kelly has the potential to become a big name in multiple sports.
The 26-year-old would be following a long line of professional grapplers turned mixed martial artists, with some of submission grappling’s other current big stars also flirting with the idea in the near future.
She was present at the biggest event in the grappling calendar, the ADCC 2022 World Championships, watching on as a spectator instead of competing on the mats for a change.
Whilst at the event, Kelly spoke to MMA journalist 'The Schmo' about her plans for the future, including her eventual MMA debut:
“Hopefully soon, I’ll have like one or two more jiu-jitsu matches and then maybe I’ll focus on my first MMA fight next year. I just want to compete in jiu-jitsu first, and then sometime next year I want to make the move to MMA.”
