Danny Kingad says Adriano Moraes has evolved over the years as a martial artist

Demetrious Johnson shouldn’t expect to see the same Adriano Moraes when they meet for a third time in two years this May in Colorado.

Although the reigning ONE flyweight world champion currently controls the momentum, the fact still stands that Moraes has it in him to knock out even someone as skilled as Johnson, as evidenced in their first meeting in 2021.

Moraes holds his base as a Brazilian jiu-jitsu athlete, having added striking and wrestling to his arsenal over time. One fellow ONE Championship fighter to notice Moraes’ incredible ability to learn quickly is Filipino flyweight Danny Kingad.

Fighting in the same division as Moraes, Kingad has been watching Moraes for a long time and can see how he’s become a complete fighter over the years. Speaking to media outlet The MMA Superfan, Kingad spoke highly of the evolution of the former world champ Adriano Moraes:

“Adriano, for me, has improved his footwork so much. We saw before that all he likes to do is get a submission, or go for the takedown and then lock in a submission. That’s what he did before. But now, he’s also striking with the best of them. He’s really improved his striking and his footwork.”

What Demetrious Johnson would be wise to admit is that Adriano Moraes is still working on that continuum, and he’s now had two fights and two years to develop his strategy.

Danny Kingad sees third meeting of Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson as the closest of the trilogy

When two fighters have faced each other twice already, typically either one fighter has studied the other so much that they’re able to enact the ultimate gameplan, or the two balance out every strength and weakness the other has.

Danny Kingad seems to believe that the third meeting between Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson will showcase the latter, and offering his prediction to The MMA Superfan, forecasted what fans can expect:

“I think this time, this fight will go to a decision. They both like to time their offense and have tremendous footwork. They’ll have a technical match until the time runs out. Although the first two fights ended in finishes, I think this third fight will go the distance.”

Although he predicted a decision in their trilogy fight, both fighters are fully capable of ending the fight by knockout: Adriano Moraes and Demetrious Johnson each own the distinction of notching the first career knockout loss of the other.

Being in a timezone and place more familiar to both fighters, it stands to reason that they will put on a show for everyone in attendance as well as the millions watching at home.

ONE Fight Night 10 goes down on May 5 in Broomfield, Colorado, USA. The event boasts part three of a trilogy between Adriano Moraes and reigning world champion Demetrious Johnson in the main event.
