These days, Conor McGregor is widely considered to be Michael Chandler's principal rival. However, at one point it was Patricio 'Pitbull' Freire, who now seems intent on reigniting his own rivalry with Chandler, despite having previously called out Alexander Volkanovski.
The Brazilian great took to X/Twitter, where he aimed trash talk at Chandler. He did so in response to an account sharing his entire fight with Chandler from Bellator 221, which saw 'Pitbull' capture Bellator lightweight gold.
The fight lasted just one minute and a second, with Freire flooring Chandler with a counter-right hand, before pouncing with ground-and-pound for the TKO. According to Freire's tweet, it was a fight that posed no difficulty for him.

Chandler has always protested the stoppage as premature. His stance is understandable, given that he seemed to have his wits about him and was in the process of standing right as the referee waved it off. However, the bout has since become a distant memory for 'Iron.'
Now, Chandler is busy chasing a matchup with McGregor, with whom he filmed 'The Ultimate Fighter 31' with the expectation of a future bout. Unfortunately, the two have yet to share the cage, despite all of Chandler's callouts, including a ring-side appearance on WWE Raw.
There was hope when the two men were booked for a matchup at UFC 303, but McGregor withdrew from the event after fracturing his toe. Since then, there have been few serious signs of the Irishman's return, with UFC CEO Dana White tentatively projecting his comeback for late 2025.
