American fighter Sage Northcutt is still interested in fighting Japanese legend Shinya Aoki if the opportunity presents itself in the future.
‘Super’ made this known in an appearance on The MMA Hour, sharing that while his focus at the moment is on his return fight against Ahmed Mujtaba in May, a clash with Aoki down the line is very much part of his wish list.
Northcutt said:
“I knew we had some beef going back and forth, me and Shinya [Aoki] on Twitter. That would be a great fight for the future. Right now, I’m focused on me versus Ahmed Mujtaba. But definitely in the future, I would love to fight Shinya.”

Northcutt and Aoki were initially set to meet on ONE on TNT IV in April 2021 but the former had to pull out for medical reasons.
‘Super’ later called out Aoki in a Twitter post for “ducking” a possible showdown with him last year, which did not sit well with ‘Tobikan Judan', who said he does not back down from anyone.
Northcutt will return to action after a three-and-a-half-year hiatus at ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video on May 5 against Pakistan’s Mujtaba in a lightweight battle.
The event is the first live show of ONE Championship in the United States happening at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, and is headlined by the trilogy fight between reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Demetrious Johnson and rival Adriano Moraes.
It is available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.

He last fought in his promotional debut in May 2019 at ONE: Enter the Dragon where he lost by knockout in the first round against Brazilian Cosmo Alexandre.
