"Definitely a talented wrestler too" - Christian Lee admits Dagi Arslanaliev's Dagestani wrestling was not easy to overcome

Christian Lee is confident in his ability to take on opponents that bring different skillsets to the table.

The ONE welterweight and lightweight MMA world champion has faced off with a lot of different styles during his electrifying tenure in ONE Championship.

Being well-rounded and able to make the required adjustments is one of the reasons that 'The Warrior' has been so successful.

Though his recent return at ONE Fight Night 26 ended in unfortunate circumstances, fans were treated to two rounds of striking between Lee and his lightweight world title challenger, Alibeg Rasulov.

The undefeated Turkish competitor was unable to implement his grappling game. But that didn't come as a surprise to Lee given his track record when facing dominant wrestlers.

Christian Lee reflected on this during a recent interview with Val Dewar where he mentioned the likes of Dagi Arslanaliev who he has overcome in the past:

"I also feel that, there's a lot that I fought with great wrestling, uhm, you know, Dagi? Saygid? He is definitely a talented wrestler too. Although I was able to take him down many times, it was due to my game plan, my strategy going into the fight because he's a good wrestler too."

Christian Lee could meet Dagi Arslanaliev again

In October 2019, Christian Lee overcame Dagi Arslanaliev who had produced an impressive four-fight win streak at the time.

The two men could still cross paths once again now that the Turkish competitor has a long-awaited MMA return on the cards.

At ONE 171 on Feb. 20 in Qatar, Arslanaliev is set to return for a pivotal welterweight clash against Roberto Soldic.

Now that Lee is back and wanting to stay active, moving back up to welterweight to defend the gold is certainly on his to-do list for 2025 so a rematch could be on the horizon.
