At ONE Fight Night 10, Demetrious Johnson successfully defended his flyweight world championship against Adriano Moraes in their trilogy fight.

Securing a dominant decision win in the main event at ONE Championship’s on-ground US debut event in Broomfield, Colorado, ‘Might Mouse’ proved that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest of levels.

However, his win was overshadowed by talks about the possibility of him calling it a day on his illustrious career following his first title defense under the ONE banner.

While it is clear that he could continue fighting at a world championship level for years to come, Johnson isn’t sure whether he wants to keep competing, as he would love to start spending time at home with his family, gaming, or stick to other ventures that he’s built over the years.

In an interview with MMA Junkie on YouTube, Demetrious Johnson spoke about the other high-level competitors that made a U-turn after they walked away from the sport, and how he would be different when he hangs up his gloves for good.

He said:

“I don’t know when GSP retired but I think he fought when he was 37 or 38, I don’t know, I’d have to take a look, or was he younger than that? Henry, he just turned 36, so he retired when he was 33, and came back when he was 36.
“And Urijah, I’m not sure what his age was. But, for me, hmm, the next time I do fight, I’d be 37 years old. So, I’ve already outlived their retirement, and kept on fighting, and just fought for another world title.”
