Jarred Brooks recently gave his two cents on arguably the biggest debate in mixed martial arts.

Regarding discussions about the greatest mixed martial arts athlete of all time, two names usually come to mind —recently retired Demetrious Johnson and reigning UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones.

The accolades of these two fine gentlemen speak for themselves and both do have legitimate claims as MMA's one true GOAT.

The outspoken Jarred Brooks, though, amped up the discourse even more going as far as pitting Johnson and Jones in a hypothetical match-up.

In an interview, BODYSLAM.NET Pro Wrestling's YouTube channel, 'The Monkey God' suggested that 'Mighty Mouse' would beat 'Bones' if they were the same size and fought in the same weight class.

"You put Jon Jones and Demetrious Johnson in the same weight class, Demetrious Johnson smokes him. Period. I don't care... I know the length, the weight and all that stuff... But if they were in the same weight class, Demetrious Johnson."

Now, that's an interesting take right there. Demetrious Johnson is indeed truly one of the most skilled warriors to ever lace up the four-ounce gloves.

His technical ability is second to none, and he is responsible for taking the smaller weight classes to new heights.

The replay of Johnson's heartfelt retirement ceremony at ONE 168: Denver is available on demand for Prime Video subscribers in North America.

Jarred Brooks says Demetrious Johnson inspired him to become an MMA fighter

Jarred Brooks' desire to challenge Demetrious Johnson will no longer be feasible now that the MMA great has officially retired.

Still, the interim strawweight MMA world champion credits 'Mighty Mouse' for opening the doors for smaller fighters like himself and inspiring a generation.

'The Monkey God' told ONE in an earlier interview:

"Demetrious Johnson was somebody that I was watching on TV at Buffalo Wild Wings, winning a world title in 2012, thinking that, 'Hey, that could be me one day.' And luckily, I believed in myself enough to end up getting into the UFC. I was that close to where I was going to fight him."
