Denice Zamboanga says she’ll hold off on holiday festivities to win that elusive world title: “I can’t eat that much”

Denice Zamboanga plans to skip "holiday festivities" to focus on world-title aspirations.

Over the next few weeks, many people worldwide will celebrate holidays such as Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, New Year's, and more. Meanwhile, ONE women's strawweight MMA fighter Denice Zamboanga has other priorities.

On January 10, 2025, Zamboanga will fight for the interim women's atomweight MMA world title at ONE Fight Night 27. 'The Menace' is scheduled to fight Alyona Rassohyna, who holds a 1-1 promotional record, both against Stamp Fairtex.

During an interview with ONE Sports, Zamboanga had this to say about skipping the holidays to prioritize her training camp:

“Of course, we all know that because of my training camp, I’m gonna miss the holiday festivities, from Christmas to New Year’s celebrations. I can’t eat that much, so of course I want to start the year by celebrating. This year, I wish to start stronger."

Heading into ONE Fight Night 27, Denice Zamboanga is riding momentum after three consecutive wins. The Filipino superstar started with a split decision win against Lin Heqin before securing unanimous decisions against Julie Mazabarba and Noelle Grandjean.

Alyona Rassohyna hasn't fought since a split decision loss against ONE women's atomweight MMA world champion Stamp Fairtex in September 2021.

Earlier this year, Stamp Fairtex suffered a torn meniscus in training. The Thai megastar was forced to endure a lengthy recovery process, forcing her to pull out of an atomweight MMA title defense against Denice Zamboanga.

Stamp vs. Zamboanga was a highly-anticipated matchup as they are close friends and former training partners. 'The Menace' now has an opportunity to re-book the fight with a win against Alyona Rassohyna at ONE Fight Night 27.

Stamp is nearing a return to training following her injury recovery. Therefore, she'll keep a close eye on the upcoming interim women's atomweight MMA title matchup, as an inevitable unification bout will take place in 2025.
