Denice Zamboanga made history when she defeated Alyona Rassohyna via second-round TKO during their ONE interim atomweight MMA world championship showdown at ONE Fight Night 27 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Zamboanga became the first Filipina MMA world champion while extending her current win streak to four last Friday, Jan. 10. Following her outstanding performance, the 27-year-old Manila native claimed this win was the best in her professional career.
During the post-event press conference, Zamboanga said:
"I guess yes, this is one of the best performances of my career."

'The Menace' displayed a well-rounded performance, from her takedown defense, and grappling attacks up to her stand-up game - everything was on point for her during the bout.
With the triumph, Zamboanga earned an automatic set up a world title unification match against reigning ONE atomweight MMA queen Stamp Fairtex in the foreseeable future once the Thai superstar fully heals up from the injury that she suffered in mid-2024.
Zamboanga and Stamp were supposed to fight for the ONE atomweight MMA world title last June 2024 at ONE 167, but the latter suffered a leg injury just two weeks out from the bout.
Denice Zamboanga caps off her victory with a $50,000 bonus from Chatri Sityodtong
This historic achievement and splendid showing for the T-Rex MMA representative didn't go unnoticed by ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong as he rewarded Zamboanga with an additional $50,000 performance bonus.
Mitch Chilson announced it during the post-fight interview inside the ring. Zamboanga joined American Muay Thai sensation Luke Lessei as the only recipient of this bonus after he also finished his opponent earlier during the card.
