Dennis McCann vs. Ionut Baluta: Full video highlights and best moments 

Joe Joyce and Derek Chisora headlined the biggest boxing card of July 27 at the O2 Arena but many fans were also in the building to see undefeated British prospect Dennis McCann face Ionut Baluta. The two super bantamweights fought for the divisional European belt on the undercard of the event.

The fight was a rematch of their initial meeting in August 2023. The first fight went into the ninth round before McCann was cut on the top of his head from an accidental clash of heads, causing the referee to declare the matchup a draw.

Despite the inconclusive result, the fight was considered one of the best and most competitive of 2023, and fans instantly pushed for an immediate rematch.

Despite the wayward result in the first fight, McCann entered the rematch as the heavy favorite. The two got into each other's faces at their face-off on July 27 and McCann expectedly received a big cheer from the crowd during his walkout.

From the opening bell, McCann beat Baluta to the punch in finding his range and rhythm. McCann was consistently the fighter pushing forward, resulting in the first knockdown of the fight in round six.

Baluta recovered but could not avoid the pressure of the European super bantamweight titleholder and was forced on his heels for the remainder of the bout. McCann got the crowd riled up on several more occasions while hurting Baluta against the ropes.

In between rounds, the British commentary accused Baluta of feeling 'sorry for himself' and believed McCann already had him beat.

McCann had one final flurry in the 12th round, hurting Baluta with multiple big shots and knocking his mouthpiece out, but could not get a finish. At the final bell, the two fighters embraced each other with McCann's corner raising him on their shoulders.

Unsurprisingly, McCann won the fight by unanimous decision to earn the European super bantamweight title. The win improved his record to 16-0-1. Baluta dropped to 16-5 while suffering his first official loss since 2022.
