Derek Brunson recently chimed in on the prisoner swap between professional basketball player Brittney Griner and arms dealer Viktor Bout.
The UFC contender couldn't help but feel like the United States was on the losing side of a lopsided trade. Adding humour to his commentary, Brunson likened the swap to a trade between NFL superstar Tom Brady and Adam Sandler's character Bobby Boucher from the movie Waterboy.
On Twitter, Brunson tweeted a photo of Sandler as a fictional footballer, with the caption:
"Trading Viktor Bout for Brittney Griner is like trading Tom Brady for Bobby Boucher 😂😂😂😂 . Who won that trade !?!?"

Griner, a professional WNBA player, was held for months in a Russian prison on drug charges after she was caught carrying THC vape cartridges.
After the swap, U.S. President Joe Biden announced that the WNBA star is currently in American custody. The POTUS said in a statement released to CNN:
"Viktor Bout has been reunited with his family, just as Brittney Griner is with hers. The people of Russia never gave up on him during the fifteen years of his wrongful incarceration, just as the people of the United States never gave up on Ms. Griner. Hopefully, this is just the first of many reasonable agreements between the U.S. and Russia that will lead to better relations and a safer world."
Kevin Holland fires back at Derek Brunson
Derek Brunson fired some shots at Kevin Holland after 'Trailblazer' lost to Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson in the main event of UFC Orlando.
On Twitter, Brunson made several jokes mocking his former opponent. Not one to back down from a war of words, Holland hit back at the 38-year-old and vowed to return to the octagon for another go-round against Brunson:
"Yes yes and yes. First good tweet you ever made. 👏 Also the type of guy to come back up a weight class and smack that blonde head around. I’d be doing it just for the fans tho…..like always"

Brunson and Holland fought in the main event of UFC Vegas 22 in March 2021. In that fight, Brunson scored a dominant unanimous decision win, snapping Holland's five-fight winning streak.
