Devin Haney recently expressed his thoughts about Matchroom's decision to not enter the purse bids for the fight with Sandor Martin. Haney is not happy with the bid that was accepted.

Promotional rights to Haney's mandated WBC 140-pound title defense against Martin on June 18 were obtained by Bob Arum's Top Rank. During the purse bid hearing on Tuesday, Top Rank was the only bidder, submitting $2.42 million.

10 percent of the total, or $242,000, will be deposited as a win bonus into escrow. As the reigning champion, Haney is entitled to 70% ($1,524,600) of the remaining $2,178,000. The Spaniard will receive the remaining 30% as the required challenger ($653,400).

Haney anticipated that Eddie Hearn's Matchroom would participate in the bidding as well, but the promotion stayed away from this as it believes the event won't generate much buzz and is expected to produce low ratings.

Following the announcement of bidding results, Haney took to X and took a dig at Matchroom, writing:

''Wow Matchroom..nasty work''

The only sensible thing for Matchroom to do was to stay out of the fight because the profits wouldn't cover the expenses. Hearn needs to be aware that Haney might lose to Sandor, who possesses the strength to complete the task that Ryan Garcia began this April.

In his last boxing appearance, Haney squared off against Garcia to defend his WBC 140-pound title. The 25-year-old was able to retain his belt despite the loss because Garcia was 3.2 pounds over the divisional weight limit.

Meanwhile, Martin is coming off a knockout win against Mohamed El Marcouchi this past December.

When Sandor Martin called out Devin Haney

It will be Sandor Martin Martin's first title fight of his career. Martin has not competed since earlier this year when he inked a co-promotional agreement with Top Rank. The plan has always been to wait out for Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia before making a run at the title.

Martin's dream appears to be coming true, as he prepares to challenge Devin Haney for the WBC 140-pound title. Last year, in an interview with Marca, the Spaniard called out Haney and said:

"I congratulate him for being champion in a second weight division, because that is something that is within the reach of very few. "And I would tell him that if he wants a top-level fight, like the one he is looking for with someone who will demand him both physically and mentally in the sport of boxing, he knows that I am the fight he needs."
