Did Ishmael Davis have kids at the age of 14?

Ishmael Davis gained prominence after stepping in on short notice to fight Josh Kelly on the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois undercard in September 2024. Davis suffered a majority decision defeat, which marked his first loss in the sport of pro boxing. Nevertheless, leading up to that fight, and even thereafter, he earned appreciation for opening up about how he'd turned his life around with boxing.

Speaking to Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions in September, the British fighter recalled being behind bars twice. Davis even recounted how he'd had two children, his twin boys, when he was just 14:

"Well, I'm not ashamed of my past. I'm proof that anyone can change their life if you put the work in. But yeah, I went to prison. So I started boxing before when I was 11 and then started going down the wrong path. I had twin boys when I was 14. And I just kind of kept going down the wrong path; ended up in jail twice. And then, I just said to myself, 'Look, I don't want to do this no more.' And I just came out, hit the gym, stayed in the gym. went around sparring everyone."

Ishmael Davis indicated he'd amassed considerable experience by sparring with England's top boxers, who he gradually worked his way up to. Davis spoke about wanting to change his life for the better, which is why he started changing his circles and being around positive people.
