Did Jake Gyllenhaal fight at UFC 285? Here is what the Road House remake star was doing in the octagon

Fans may have seen videos of Jake Gyllenhaal weighing in, interacting with big MMA personalities and even fighting in the octagon!

The UFC 285 weekend, which saw Jon Jones beat Ciryl Gane to become the heavyweight champion, also gave us a closer look at what Gyllenhaal has been up to.

It turns out that Jake Gyllenhaal is not competing in MMA. Instead, his activities in and around the octagon were a part of the production of 'Roadhouse,' Gyllenhaal's latest film.

To create a sense of realism, the producers of 'Roadhouse' worked with the UFC to stage a weigh-in, as well as film scenes with a real crowd at UFC 285. For the weigh-in, the production enlisted Bruce Buffer to lend his voice and introduce Gyllenhaal and his opponent.

Later, we see Gyllenhaal and his opponent, former fighter Jay Hieron, face off inside the cage. Here, Gyllenhaal can be seen throwing a flying knee and viciously KOing Hieron.

The film is a remake of the 1989 cult classic that sees an ex-MMA fighter working at a Texas roadhouse bar, where not everything is what it seems.

Conor McGregor and other MMA personalities star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in 'Roadhouse'

Apart from filming in collaboration with the UFC, 'Roadhouse' will also feature a number of prominent MMA personalities. Perhaps the most recognizable name on the list is Conor McGregor. The Irishman was seen on the sidelines with Gyllenhaal as the pair watched UFC 285.

Apart from McGregor, former fighter Jay Hieron will also star in the film, as we see him play Gyllenhaal's opponent in the fighting scene. Bruce Buffer is also set to make an appearance, as we see him in the weigh-in scene.

While we don't have more details on the exact role McGregor will be playing, it is expected to be a meaty one. Considering McGregor's face on the film poster, fans can expect to see a lot of the Irishman on the silver screen.
