Sean Strickland's MMA career could've ended way back due to a motorcycle accident
Sean Strickland's love for riding motorcycles took a heavy toll on him in December 2018. Strickland didn't spot an oncoming van and crashed into it with his motorcycle, leaving him unconscious.
Later, Strickland mentioned how he had left "some of his kneecap" at the spot of the accident. He was diagnosed with a torn patella tendon separated from his knee, which put his future in the sport in jeopardy.
Strickland underwent surgery but also took a lot of additional time to recover from his injuries. His spirit finally had him making a comeback to the octagon on 31 October 2020, ultimately becoming UFC champion.
The UFC brass recently announced that Strickland will have his next encounter on Feb. 8 against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 312 with the middleweight gold on the line.
