Former UFC fighter Diego Sanchez and his team are seeking to overturn their recent Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) loss to Austin Trout.
Sanchez lost his bare-knuckle boxing debut against the former WBA super-welterweight champion via fourth-round doctor's stoppage at BKFC Knuckle Mania 3, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

As per a report by MMA Fighting, 'The Nightmare' and his team have filed an appeal with the New Mexico Athletic Commission seeking to overturn the fight result, over allegations that the former world champion boxer was overly greased during the fight.
In a statement given to the publication, Sanchez's representative Ricky Kottenstette said:
“We will be filling a formal complaint with the NMAC to reverse the bout. In a sport where clinching is allowed it, 100 percent eliminated his chance at implementing a key strategy in his game plan. [Transcript via MMA Fighting]”
The cheating allegations originally surfaced as Sanchez shared a video on Instagram of Trout's corner rubbing vaseline on him.
As per 'Nightmare', this rendered him unable to effectively use cliches during the fight, which was a major part of his game plan for leveling the playing field against the pro boxer.
In numerous social media posts since then, Diego Sanchez has suggested that Trout and his corner were actively trying to thwart his gameplan:
"This was in between rounds! And the video before was before the fight @bkfc_the_cutman and Austin’s corner in collaboration greasing shoulders and neck before the fight to thwart my game plan to actively strike from the clinch! This changed the whole inside fight where I had my best chance to win...@bareknucklefc PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS LOSS OVERTURNED!"
Austin Trout claims that it was "the body shots" that stopped Diego Sanchez from clinching
Austin Trout didn't buy Diego Sanchez's claim of not being able to utilize cliches owing to him being overly greased. The former WBA super welterweight champion believes it was hard body shots which stopped 'Nightmare's clinch attempts.
In a recent Instagram live post, the former world-champion boxer ridiculed the former UFC athlete's cheating claims, saying:
"They are talking about this vaseline is the reason why Deigo got the breaks beat off of him... The vaseline? It was the vaseline that stopped him from clinching, but if you watch the fight, [in the] first round I initiated the clinch. I was being his a**. [I] was busting his body up. It was the body shots that stopped him from clinching, not the vaseline."
