Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Rodtang Jitmuangnon seemed destined to meet inside the Circle one day, and ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video should’ve been the collision point between these two Thai legends. That was until Rodtang, the reigning ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, pulled out of the match due to injury.
Superlek, the defending ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion, admitted that he was disappointed with the incident after being informed of Rodtang’s condition a couple of days before fight week. The two were supposed to face each other in the main event of ONE Fight Night 8 with Superlek defending his gold against Rodtang.
In an interview with South China Morning Post, Superlek Kiatmoo9 said that while he was disappointed, he also understood that injuries do happen:

“I am disappointed that this fight is not happening, but I also understand that injuries can happen. It happened to me too before so, but it was also the fight that everyone was looking forward to so I’m a little bit sad about it.”
With Rodtang out of the bout, Danial Williams was slotted in to face Superlek and challenge for the ONE flyweight kickboxing world title this Friday in US primetime at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Williams is one of the most exciting fighters in ONE Championship in both MMA and Muay Thai. The Australian-Thai striker made his debut at ONE on TNT I in April 2021 where he went the distance with Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a Muay Thai bout. He then had a four-fight run in MMA including a three-fight winning streak against Thai legend Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, Namiki Kawahara, and Zelang Zhaxi.
Superlek, meanwhile, is regarded as one of the best Muay Thai fighters of his generation with an overall record of 132-29-4 and an 8-1 slate in ONE Championship. His latest win was a technical display against Daniel Puertas for the vacant ONE flyweight kickboxing world title at ONE Fight Night 6 this January.
ONE Fight Night 8 will be available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
