Dmitry Bivol recently gave his take on his controversial loss to Artur Beterbiev. Bivol chose the high road, congratulating Beterbiev on his victory and stating that he did not want to make excuses for his defeat.
The highly anticipated light heavyweight title showdown between Bivol and Beterbiev took place this past weekend at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, in the end, the Russian-Canadian fighter prevailed against Bivol by majority decision to establish himself as the undisputed champion.
Following his loss, Bivol expressed his thoughts in his interview inside the squared circle:
''I'm a warrior. I have to do everything perfect and I don't have any explanations because it could look like excuses, I just congratulations to Artur [Beterbiev] and his team, he deserve it. No problem, I just have time to make another decision for my future, that's it.''

During the post-fight press conference, Bivol declined to offer any explanations for his defeat, emphasizing that he doesn't want to reflect on his past performance or the reasons behind it. The Russian declared that he would feel ashamed if he continued to offer justifications for his loss:
''To be honest, I don’t like excuses, explanations. You know my philosophy is to be perfect. To not answer on questions, ‘Why you did this? And why you did that?’ And have some excuses. I feel shame if I try and explain to you why I didnt win this fight. I didn’t win, and that’s it.”
Bivol then went on to express his desire for a potential rematch, saying:
''Thank you to everyone who believed in me and sorry...I hope I will have a chance, how his Excellency [Turki Alalshikh] told that he wants to make it, and I hope I will do better.''
