Dominick Cruz wants people to stay away from the topic of weight cutting. While the practice has become an inevitable aspect of combat sports, many feel that it jeopardizes fighters' health.

In a recent episode of the Anik & Florian Podcast, host and UFC commentator Jon Anik brought up Cruz's past remarks where 'The Dominator' urged him to refrain from talking against weight-cutting. Cruz, who was the guest on the podcast, elaborated on his comments:

“I know where you stand. You want to save fighters - You're one of those that think we [fighters] need to be saved. I don't need your f***ing help. I got it. Stay out of my f***ing way. Let me make my f***ing money. Get the f***out of here. Stop! All of you. ‘Save them from weight cuts, weight cuts are bad!’ What about fighting is healthy? What are we talking about? This is so ignorant. Don't save me. Leave me alone.”

Dominick Cruz is open to fighting one of the three fellow former champions in his comeback fight

Dominick Cruz has not competed professionally since a fourth-round KO defeat against Marlon 'Chito Vera' in 2022. During the aforementioned episode of the Anik & Florian Podcast, he talked about his preferred opponents for a comeback fight:

"I'm aligned with the [Jose Aldo] fight. I heard Henry [Cejudo] said that he would be willing to fight me if Hunter would allow that to happen. I would rematch Henry. I would love that. Because I'm not saying he did not beat me. But I'm saying that on a full camp, we can give an entertaining fight."

He added:

"So Aldo, Henry, Cody [Garbrandt] is getting ready to fight. Rematches for me make sense. It's not rocket science I don't have tons of fight left."

For reference, Cody Garbrandt defeated Cruz to win the bantamweight title at UFC 207 in December 2016. Meanwhile, Cejudo secured his only bantamweight title defense against Cruz at UFC 249 in a short-notice fight.

Cruz and Jose Aldo held the bantamweight and featherweight titles, respectively, during what many fans consider to be the golden era of the UFC. While a super-fight never materialized at the peak of their competitive abilities, talks of a potential showdown have picked up steam after Aldo's move to bantamweight.
