After a year-and-a-half away from the sport, former light heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes is scheduled to make his UFC return against the No.12-ranked contender Ryan Spann at UFC 281.

The pay-per-view card is scheduled for November 12 at Madison Square Garden, New York.

'The Devastator', who once held a six-fight win streak in the world's premier MMA promotion, is currently on a three-fight skid. Reyes has been unable to get in the win column since his controversial unanimous decision loss against Jon Jones in 2020.

In his last fight at UFC on ESPN 23 against current champion Jiri Prochazka, the American was KO'd by 'Denisa' in the second round with a spinning elbow. The 32-year-old currently holds a mixed martial arts record of 12 wins against three losses.

'The Devastator's' opponent, Spann, holds a pro record of 20 wins against seven losses. In his last octagon outing, 'Superman' triumphed over Ion Cutelaba via first-round submission due to a guillotine choke.

As per DraftKings Sportsbook betting odds, Dominick Reyes is a -215 favorite against the +185 underdog Spann.

UFC 281 is headlined by the highly anticipated middleweight title clash between former kickboxing foes Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira. The strawweight title clash between Carla Esparza and Zhang Weili will serve as the co-main event of the fight card.

Dominick Reyes explains why he decided to train with Glover Teixeira for his UFC comeback

In a recent interview with James Lynch, No.7-ranked UFC light heavyweight Dominick Reyes stated that getting out of his comfort zone was the major factor that made him switch his training camp to Teixeira MMA & Fitness.

'The Devastator' added that the number of high-caliber fighters that he gets to work with on a daily basis in Teixeira's Connecticut gym is invaluable:

"Working on here with these guys is amazing... I'm working with Alex [Pereira] on a daily basis, I've got Glover [Teixeira] on a daily basis... I'm getting amazing looks man. The level that they are at and what I'm seeing from them is... literally the top you know. Glover is the former champ and Alex is going for the championship but he is like a seven-time world champion for kickboxing, so I'm not going to see striking better than that anywhere."
