Cub Swanson's performance at UFC Tampa has earned praise from everyone in the MMA community. UFC fighters Dricus du Plessis, Dustin Poirier, and many others expressed their admiration for Swanson.
Swanson squared off against Billy Quarantillo in the co-main event of UFC Tampa that took place this past weekend at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The 41-year-old was 2-3 in his last five octagon visits.
In his recent MMA outing at UFC 303 earlier this year, the veteran suffered a split decision loss against Andre Fili. Meanwhile, Quarantillo was also 2-3 in his last five octagon appearances. The 36-year-old was coming off a second-round submission loss against Youssef Zalal at UFC Vegas 89.
Their featherweight bout began with Quarantillo delivering a head kick that Swanson blocked. The first round was all about the two unleashing attacks on each other. Quarantillo closed the round with a takedown. With both fighters trying to inflict damage, the second round was equally evenly matched.
