Dustin Poirier has admitted to being nervous about a potential rematch with Justin Gaethje.

'The Highlight' was recently seen in the octagon against Rafael Fiziev at UFC 286. Despite being the underdog going into the fight, Gaethje earned an impressive decision victory over Fiziev. While speaking about what's next following the fight, Gaethje expressed his interest in fighting either Dustin Poirier or Charles Oliveira.

Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier fought each other back in 2018 when 'The Diamond' walked away with a fourth-round TKO. Both fighters have gone on to attain a record of 6-2 since then, with both of their losses coming against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira in championship bouts.

Speaking about a potential rematch against Justin Gaethje, Poirier suggested that it was a fight that made him nervous. During a recent interview with FanSided MMA, he said:

"It's a fight that makes me nervous. When I hear a name and I get nervous, it's motivation."

Furthermore, 'The Diamond' also gave a timeline for his return to the octagon and revealed that he will be eyeing a fight sometime around the summer:

"A summer fight would be ideal. That way I could bring my family with me for the bulk of training camp. For this last fight with Chandler, we had to split it up. I can’t take my daughter out of school for eight, nine weeks, so that makes it a little more difficult. But summer would be good.”

Colby Covington reveals Dustin Poirier rejected a fight against him

Colby Covington has given his thoughts on Dustin Poirier allegedly turning down an opportunity to fight him in the UFC.

'Chaoe' recently sat down for an interview with James Lynch of My MMA News to discuss a variety of topics. In the interview, he also mentioned that a fight against Poirier was in the works. However, according to Covington, 'The Diamond' turned down the fight.

"He talked all that sh*t, 'Oh, I'm gonna come up to 170, I wanna fight Colby, I'm gonna do this.' You know, he said on Twitter, 'It's on site,' all these things. He even went on Twitter, 'I accept.' Dude, he never accepted. The UFC gave him the fight, you know, the biggest money fight that he was gonna get besides obviously Conor [McGregor] and he fumbled it."
