Dustin Poirier compares Bud Light shoot to Super Bowl commercials: "It’s a testament to my work and the big fights I’ve had"

UFC lightweight star Dustin Poirier has reflected on how far he has come throughout his MMA career after he recently took part in filming a new TV ad for Bud Light.

'The Diamond' is widely considered one of the best to ever step into the octagon and has already been tipped to be a future Hall of Famer. After beginning his professional MMA career in 2009, Poirier has seen himself achieve star status after picking up victories over the likes of Conor McGregor, Michael Chandler, Max Holloway, and Justin Gaethje.

One thing that has continued to elude the 35-year-old, however, is an undisputed UFC title. Despite being a former interim champ, Poirier has previously come up short twice while trying to capture the lightweight strap.

He will now have a third opportunity to do so next weekend when he faces Islam Makhachev at UFC 302 on June 1.

Ahead of his bout against Makhachev, Poirier recently took part in filming a new ad for UFC sponsor Bud Light. It was filmed at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, with the advert dropping on YouTube this week. It is also expected to run during the UFC 302 live broadcast.

Dustin Poirier then discussed his experience filming, stating that the opportunity came thanks to his hard work in the cage. He said:

"When I first started, these aren't the small guys printing shirts in their mom's house. This is mainstream super bowl commercials and stuff like that. It's incredible, it's a testament to my work and the big fights I've had throughout my career."

Dustin Poirier suggests UFC 302 could be his last fight in the octagon

Dustin Poirier has alluded to the fact that UFC 302 could be the third and final time fans see him step into the octagon to fight for a title.

'The Diamond' has regularly stated that he had originally set himself the goal of not fighting past the age of 35 when he started his career. Now, on the cusp of a third title shot and approaching 36 years old, Poirier has revealed he's long past starting over, should he fall to a defeat against Islam Makhachev.

Speaking in a recent interview with CBS Sports, Dustin Poirier said:

"I'm not going to climb the ladder again. I've been doing this (for) a long time. It's a very selfish sport. I'm ready to be a father and be a husband and be home and be into a routine. I wouldn't say I can't do it again. I can do it again. It's just ... this is it for me."
