Dustin Poirier has been aptly dubbed one of four "kings of violence" alongside fellow lightweights Eddie Alvarez, Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler. All four fighters emerged from the same era, producing brutal and frenzied performances by the bucket load.

Alvarez currently plies his trade under the Bare Knuckle FC banner, one of the most savage formats of combat sports. His record stands at 1-1, having faced two fellow former UFC fighters in Chad Mendes and Mike Perry, losing his bout to 'Platinum'.

Ahead of the Philadelphia native's upcoming BKFC clash against Jeremy Stephens, he was interviewed by Home of Fight. Alvarez was asked to pick between facing 'The Diamond' or Gaethje in a BKFC fight, and he said this:

"I think Dustin would be the one I'd like to get back. I beat Justin, I don't think Justin is gonna be an easy fight no matter what night it is. He's always gonna be difficult. Me and Dustin have sort of got a little bit of a back-and-forth. I got him once, he got me once. It'd be nice to finish that out, with no gloves."

Dana White shares update on Dustin Poirier's next fight

Dustin Poirier, one of the most popular UFC fighters in the world, is almost certainly retiring after his next fight having been at the top of the lightweight division for nearly a decade.

The Louisiana native recently competed for the 155-pound title against Islam Makhachev at UFC 302, where he was submitted in Round 5. Following the bout, Poirier admitted that had he defeated Makhachev to win the title, he would have retired.

But having lost to the Dagestani, a route back to UFC gold will take at least two more fights, something that the 35-year-old has no interest in entertaining.

The former interim champion has made it clear that he will have one more fight, and UFC CEO Dana White recently shared an exciting update for fans of 'The Diamond' on his fighting future. During a recent media scrum, White was asked about Poirier's next bout and said the following:

"We're in the middle of talks for him with something that he wants to do for the end of his career."
