Former UFC lightweight title challenger Dustin Poirier doesn't mind the idea of a trilogy fight against former opponent Justin Gaethje.

Daniel Cormier invited 'The Diamond' on his Good Guy / Bad Guy podcast, where the Olympian revealed interest in a trilogy matchup, now that both of them aren't contending for the belt, suggesting that this will be a contest that draws fans' attention. The former interim UFC lightweight champion seemed firmly open for a rubber match to settle the score:

Here's what Poirier said:

"You know I don't like to leave things unsettled. We are 1-1, with one KO a piece. So, the rubber match? I don't know, we gotta see."

Gaethje and Poirier have both went toe-to-toe against each other twice previously. Their first fight, in 2018 witnessed a hard-fought victory for 'The Diamond', finishing with a barrage of punches in the fourth round. However, their second bout, for the famed BMF belt in 2023, ended with 'The Highlight' radiating brighter than ever, when he ended the fight with a headkick knockout in round two.

Dustin Poirier predicts the winner of UFC 303 main event

Dustin Poirier shared his thoughts on the upcoming main event for UFC 303 that takes place this Saturday. In one of the most anticipated rematches in light heavyweight's history, a hungry Jiri Prochazka will take on a feared champion in Alex Pereira for the 205-pound belt.

Opining on the hyped title fight during the aforementioned podcast, 'The Diamond' picked Prochazka and had some solid advice for the Czech. He said:

“In the first fight, which I’ve watched a bunch of times, Jiri was winning. The judges gave him the first round, I gave him the first round, I was giving him the second round; I thought he was up and he had Alex hurt against the fence. He made one small mistake and paid for it, and with a guy like Alex, there is no mistake you come back from when it comes to striking. So, if Jiri changes his strategy, moves more laterally, watches out, switches stances, doesn’t take those calf kicks, I’m going Jiri.”

Reflecting on the co-main event between Brian Ortega and Diego Lopes, Dustin Poirier had a playful take:

"Even though he missed weight, Im going Ortega. I just think the experience of Ortega will matter. He's been in title fights but who wins the hair battle in that fight? The quality of hair, who wins that? Thats the fight nobody's talking about."
