Eddie Hearn has already named Canelo Alvarez’s next fight after he takes on John Ryder in Mexico on May 6.
Due to David Benavidez being victorious in a WBC title fight eliminator against Caleb Plant this past weekend, fans and the media have been talking about a Canelo vs. Benavidez fight for the WBC super-middleweight title.
When asked about whether Alvarez would fight Benavidez next, this is what his promoter Eddie Hearn had to say to SecondOut:
“Well, the next fight is Bivol. You know, contractually we have to go through the process with the rematch. We’re already close to making that fight, Eddie Reynoso asked am few months ago to do the Ryder and the Bivol fight. If we can get the Bivol fight done, then absolutely, Benavidez is also the mandatory.

"So we talked about the mandatory situation, he’s gonna have to fight him at some stage. Trust me when I say, working with Eddie Reynoso and Canelo Alvarez, they will fight anybody”.
'Canelo' moved up to the light heavyweight weight class to take on Dimitri Bivol for the WBA championship and lost via unanimous decision. Alvarez will now face John Ryder in his home country for a mandatory title defense at super-middleweight, but is eager to avenge the loss he suffered against Bivol.
The WBC will most likely issue an order for Canelo vs. Benavidez soon, as Benavidez is the WBC interim super-middleweight champion.
