Elon Musk receives strange request from top UFC contender to "buy the federal government and lay off a few people"

UFC lightweight contender Beneil Dariush is turning to Elon Musk to rid the United States federal government of a few corrupt officials.

Dariush is usually soft-spoken even when he's talking to and about his rivals. However, one thing that Dariush can't seem to tolerate is corruption in the government.

The Assyrian-American fighter recently posted a screenshot of a report from The New York Post regarding "fraud-ridden" COVID-19 relief programs. Dariush's post came with the caption:

"Hey [Elon Musk], can you buy the federal gov, and lay off a few people? I think 90-95% will do. I know it’s going to be expensive but I’m sure the fed will give you a loan."

Dariush's post was an apparent reference to Musk's purchase of social media platform Twitter and the changes the billionaire made. After his takeover, Musk fired several Twitter executives while others left the company. Musk also announced that he'll be launching a crackdown on fake Twitter accounts to rid the platform of bots.

When Beneil Dariush called out Elon Musk after his UFC 262 fight

Funny enough, Beneil Dariush has proven in the past that he can get tech magnate Elon Musk to pay attention to him.

Following his dominant victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 262 in 2021, Dariush used his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan to call out the CEO of Tesla Motors. According to the fighter, there had been a delay in the arrival of the new Tesla car he purchased, and he wanted Musk to give him an explanation.

Surprisingly, Musk took to Twitter to let Dariush know that his vehicle will be coming soon. He even offered to lend the lightweight contender one of his personal cars while waiting for his order.

Dariush admitted that he was only having fun with his call out and didn't expect to get a response from Musk. Speaking about his interaction with Musk during an interview with MMA Fighting, Dariush said:

"It’s incredible. I didn’t actually expect him to reply. I really didn’t. I just didn’t think he was going to be that down to Earth, I got to be honest with you."
