Emanuel Navarrete vs. Oscar Valdez purses and payouts: Previous and estimated salaries of the boxers compared

The upcoming Emanuel Navarrete vs. Oscar Valdez fight will mark the two Mexican rivals' rematch, over a year after their thrilling first encounter. Today, we examine some of their past estimated/reported payouts.

Per InsideSport, in his five fights prior to facing Oscar Valdez, Emanuel Navarrete had bagged a total of $2.7 million -- making over $500k per fight.

As reported by BetMGM after the first Navarrete-Valdez fight in August 2023, which Navarrete won via unanimous decision, they both earned payouts of over $1 million respectively. Emanuel Navarrete's estimated salary was $2.1 million and Oscar Valdez's was $1.2 million for the matchup. That included their base pay as well as pay-per-view points/pay-per-view shares.

In his most recent fight, Navarrete moved up in weight in a bid to capture the vacant WBO lightweight title against Ukraine's Denys Berinchyk in California in May 2024. He ended up losing the closely-contested matchup via split decision and was unable to become a four-division world champion.

However, it's believed he bagged a lucrative payday. Per Manouk Akopyan, the CSAC (California State Athletic Commission) noted that Navarrete earned a guaranteed minimum purse of $1 million.

Earlier this year, TotalProSports reported that Oscar Valdez is believed to earn approximately $400k per match. Additionally, an InsideSport report in 2023 indicated that Valdez secured a purse of $1 million against one of boxing's current top young stars, Shakur Stevenson, in April 2022. It marked Valdez's first professional boxing defeat, with Stevenson besting him via unanimous decision.

Also, Valdez fought and defeated Adam Lopez next, beating him via unanimous decision in May 2023. Valdez reportedly bagged a $375k purse for that matchup.

Fast-forward to 2024, and discussions concerning the Navarrete-Valdez rematch had gotten into full swing. Per ProBoxTV in June 2024, both parties were handed a period of 20 days to arrive at an agreement, or else the fight would go to a purse bid that'd start at a minimum amount of $150k.

Well, with both fighters being promoted by the Top Rank boxing promotion, it was expected that they'd strike a deal cordially and earn much more than the aforementioned minimum bid amount.

Emanuel Navarrete vs. Oscar Valdez purses and payouts

The Emanuel Navarrete vs. Oscar Valdez rematch pits three-division champion Navarrete (38-2, 1 draw; 31 KOs) against two-division champion Valdez (32-2, 24 KOs). Akin to their first encounter, their rematch has Navarrete's WBO super featherweight (aka junior lightweight) title at stake. They'll headline a Top Rank boxing card at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.A., on Dec. 7, 2024.

Navarrete appears to have bagged bigger paydays than Valdez. Per Sporty Salaries, Navarrete secured over $3 million for fights against Liam Wilson and Oscar Valdez in 2023.

The aforementioned numbers are mostly estimated/reported figures, which aren't officially confirmed. Furthermore, a fighter's total pay is usually higher than their guaranteed purse, owing to bonuses, perks, etc.

Considering their estimated/reported paydays, Navarrete and Valdez could bag $2.1 million and $1.2 million, respectively for the rematch.
