It took Erin Blanchfield under four minutes to secure an impressive submission victory over Molly McCann at UFC 281, and while many wagering fans of the sport expected the New Yorker to emerge victorious, the crowds at the Madison Square Garden felt very differently that evening.
McCann seemed to be the more popular fighter between the pair as the Liverpudlian walked into the arena with a level of applause that made her seem like the native New Yorker instead of Blanchfield. In contrast, 'Cold Blooded' was treated to heckles and sneers from the audience as she made the walk down to the octagon.
In an exclusive interview with James Lynch of Sportskeeda MMA, Blanchfield opened up about how fans reacted to her victory against 'Meatball' and stated:
"I was definitely getting a bunch of boos, which wasn't the nicest. But I knew all my family and friends that were there were supporting me and that's all I really cared about. I knew going in that I was going to get boo'ed, 'cause Molly's such a star, in their own right."

She continued:
"I knew anybody that came out to watch was obviously going to cheer for her and anybody that didn't know me was probably going to jump on that and cheer for her but I knew what I was able to do and I knew when I go in there, I can do what I do."
