At UFC Vegas 69, flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield came away with a massive win over former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade, submitting the Brazilian in the second round via a rear-naked choke to vault herself into title contention.
Beaming with confidence after her statement-making win, Erin Blanchfield called for a title shot in her post-fight interview. With Alexa Grasso set to face flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 285 next month, the winner of the title bout could potentially be Blanchfield's next opponent.
Interestingly, 'Cold Blooded' has a bold challenge for the flyweight champion. At the post-fight presser, Blanchfield was asked about who she would rather fight next – Shevchenko or Grasso? The American picked the reigning titleholder, adding that she wants to be the one to hand Shevchenko her first loss in the flyweight division:

"I would definitely prefer Shevchenko, you know? I think she beats Grasso. Grasso is [a] very thought fighter, but I want to be that one to take the title from her [Valentina Shevchenko]."

With her win over Jessica Andrade, Erin Blanchfield is now on an eight-fight win streak, with five wins coming inside the UFC octagon. Andrade held the No.3 spot in the rankings going into UFC Vegas 69 and Blanchfield will likely take her spot when the updated rankings come out on Tuesday.
Valentina Shevchenko hasn't tasted defeat since 2018. She currently holds an enviable nine-fight win streak in the promotion and is the most dominant champion in the UFC right now.
'Bullet' holds wins over several big names, including Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Lauren Murphy, Jessica Andrade, and Jessica Eye, among others. Since winning the flyweight strap in 2018, Shevchenko has defended the title seven times.
She will look to retain her belt when she squares off against Alexa Grasso in the co-main event of UFC 285 on March 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Erin Blanchfield claims she planned on getting the performance bonus
With her classy submission win over Jessica Andrade, Erin Blanchfield earned the Performance of the Night bonus of $50,000 at UFC Vegas 69. Notably, 'Cold Blooded' was planning on coming away with an extra paycheck the entire time.
At the post-fight press conference, the 23-year-old revealed that she intends to secure fight bonuses every time she steps inside the cage:
"Oh absolutely [ I knew I would get the bonus]. I mean I go into every fight with the intention of finishing and I know finishes get bonuses."
This is Blanchfield's first Performance of the Night bonus in the UFC, despite her last two wins prior to the Andrade fight being submission victories over Molly McCann and JJ Aldrich.
