Jarred Brooks is careful about judging other people, mindful of what others may have to say about him as well. He said he makes sure to look at the bigger picture in dealing with such.

'The Monkey God' spoke about this in an interview with ONE Championship, ahead of his scheduled return to action at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video on Aug. 2 in Bangkok, Thailand. He will be going up against Gustavo Balart of Cuba for the interim strawweight world title.

American Brooks said while he is known for wearing his emotions on his sleeve, he makes it a point to be circumspect with it as much as possible.

The 31-year-old Indiana native said:

"Everybody is a different person and I see people that are pieces of s*** that people love. Like absolutely love. They understand what they're doing. Some people might think of me that way."

At ONE Fight Night 24, Jarred Brooks is out to win the interim belt to redeem himself after losing the ONE strawweight MMA world title by disqualification (illegal slam) to Joshua Pacio back in March.

However, it is only he who is eligible to win the interim belt after opponent Balart failed to pass hydration or make weight during the official weigh-ins on Thursday at the Best Western Wanda Hotel in Bangkok.

ONE Championship is holding an interim strawweight championship match as reigning champion Pacio is out indefinitely with an ACL injury he suffered even before he took on Brooks last time around.

ONE Fight Night 24 will go down at the Lumpinee Stadium and will air live and for free on U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Jarred Brooks staying true to himself both inside and out of competition

Former ONE strawweight world champion Jarred Brooks rubs some people the wrong way with his bold behavior in and out of competition. But he said he is just being himself, something he picked up early in his martial arts journey.

The American fighter shared this in the same interview with ONE Championship, in conjunction with his schedule return to action on Aug. 2 at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video for the interim strawweight belt against Cuban opponent Gustavo Balart.

Jarred Brooks said:

"When I first started watching mixed martial arts I really got into it. The slogan was, 'As real as it gets.' And I took that seriously at a young age and I wanted to be real as it gets. And if I do have a problem with somebody and I do feel like it's going to be it, it needs to be addressed. I'm going to address it, period."

The Brooks-Balart clash is the headlining contest at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video.
