“Everyone notices everything” - Jonathan Haggerty fires back at critics claiming his style was no match for Superlek

Jonathan Haggerty isn't interested in what critics have to say about his quick encounter with two-sport king Superlek Kiatmoo9.

In September, 'The General' suffered a vicious 49-second knockout against 'The Kicking Machine' at ONE 168 in The Mile High City. The loss not only halted Haggerty's impressive six-fight unbeaten streak, but it cost him his champ-champ status.

After surrendering the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title to Superlek, critics were quick to suggest that Haggerty's style was no match for Superlek's — a notion that 'The General' was quick to dispute during a recent appearance on the Winners Talking podcast.

"I mean, would they say that if I knocked him out? Like that wouldn't have been noticed," Haggerty said. "But you know, everyone notices everything."

Instead of concerning himself with the past, Jonathan Haggerty is focused on the future. Specifically, he is defending his ONE bantamweight kickboxing world championship when he makes his highly anticipated return to the Circle on Thursday, February 20, at ONE 171 in Qatar.

There, Haggerty will put his kickboxing crown up for grabs against the division's top-ranked contender, Wei Rui.

Rui earned his opportunity to challenge Haggerty with a sensational performance against former ONE world champion Hiroki Akimoto in his ONE Championship debut at ONE Fight Night 22.

ONE 171: Haggerty vs. Wei will emanate from the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar on Thursday, February 20. Early bird tickets are now available via ONE Championship’s official website.

Superlek will look to keep his bantamweight Muay Thai crown at ONE 170

Before Jonathan Haggerty puts his kickboxing title on the line, Superlek will make his own return to the Circle when ONE Championship heads back to Impact Arena in Bangkok for ONE 170.

In the co-main event of the evening, 'The Kicking Machine' defends his 26 pounds of bantamweight Muay Thai gold against Scottish sensation Nico Carrillo.

Since making his promotional debut last year, Carrillo has put together an impressive string of wins — particularly in his last two outings when he brutally knocked out both Nong-O Hama and Saemapetch Fairtex.

Now, 'The King of the North' has another Thai icon in his crosshairs.

Will Carrillo land his biggest win yet and claim the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title, or will Superlek extend his unbeaten streak to 12 in the art of eight limbs?

Fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE 170: Tawanchai vs. Superbon II will air live on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, January 24 in U.S. primetime.
