Multi-time BJJ world champion and ONE world title challenger Mayssa Bastos of Brazil is one of the most revered female Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners today.
A five-time world champion in the 'gentle art', Bastos is looked up to by many, and is at the pinnacle of the sport, competing in the world's largest martial arts organization.
But the 26-year-old Art of Jiu-Jitsu Academy product admits she would not have reached the heights in her career if not for the help of her mother and father.
Growing up, Bastos says she got all the support she needed from her parents, who just wanted success for their daughter.

Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Bastos gave props to her parents for always being there for her throughout her career.
She said:
"My father has always worked with a real estate company in Brazil, and my mother is a lawyer. They supported me in everything they could, in competitions, and always took me in training when I was younger. If I needed a nutritionist, fitness coach, everything they could do to help me, they did."
Now, Bastos is ready to capture her greatest accolade yet, when she competes for ONE Championship gold this weekend.
