Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez took to X on Tuesday with a jab at former employer Bellator regarding the rights to his fights.
Alvarez who won the lightweight championships in both Bellator and the UFC, was last seen in action in December 2023 when he lost to Mike Perry in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
'The Underground King' fought in Bellator from April 2009 to November 2013 and was a two-time lightweight champion alongside being one of the biggest stars in the company.
The Professional Fighters League (PFL) acquired Bellator along with its roster in November 2023. And this week, the PFL founder released a statement announcing that Bellator branding will not be used again:

"Professional Fighters League acquired Bellator MMA one year ago primarily for its great fighter roster. PFL has established itself as a premium brand doing things different to help grow our great sport of MMA.Going forward all fight events and content will be PFL branded. The Bellator brand carries a rich history that will continue to be respected and appreciated through select feature title bouts."
Taking a jab at this news, Alvarez wrote on X:
"Hey @BellatorMMA I was thinking now would be a great time to negotiate the rights to my fights I had during my time there . I’d like to offer $ 7 dollars In total and I’d be willing to go as high as $10 if you included a signed poster of Bjorn Rebney."
Eddie Alvarez unsure if Conor McGregor will ever fight in BKFC
Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez remains unsure about former opponent Conor McGregor's chances of fighting in BKFC.
McGregor, who is a minority owner in BKFC, has teased fighting in the promotion. Alvarez, though, believes it will be hard for the Irishman to get out of his UFC contract.
Alvarez made history with McGregor when they became the first two men to headline a mixed martial arts PPV in New York.
In an interview with MMA fighting, Alvarez discussed McGregor's current contract situation, saying:
''Realistically, I think he still has two fights left on his UFC contract. I just know how difficult it is, especially when you’re that valuable to a company...They don’t make it easy...It’s going to be tough for him to fight those fights out and move onto another contract. So realistically, I don’t know if he could fight BKFC, and if he does, it’ll be maybe when he’s older.”
